Mailboxes

  1. A mailbox must be setup before you send a bulk email.  Each message in the bulk email will come from this mailbox.
  2. You can have one or more mailboxes to use to send bulk emails, however these mailboxes cannot be shared with other staff members.
  3. To add a new mailbox, click New Mailbox located under Mine under Mailboxes on the Bulk Email page.

Settings:

Staff User ID  The Center IC staff user ID of person sending messages
Status Check Default Mailbox when you have multiple mailboxes, to use the current mailbox as the default when you send new messages.
From Email Address The email address that will be sending the messages, for example 'name@emailhost.com'
From Name The name of the person sending the messages
Outgoing SMTP Mail Server Email host name, for example 'smtp.mail.com'
SMTP Mail User ID Usually is same as email address
SMTP Mail Password Only necessary to enter the first time, leave blank if not changing.
SMTP Sending Port Port 25 is standard, 465 uses SSL security, if available from your email host
SMTP Authentication Most mail servers will use the Automatic setting, however the other settings can be used if Automatic doesn't work.

Important:  Many email hosts will not allow bulk messages (even legitimate marketing) to run thought their servers.  These hosts may place limits on the number of messages sent in a particular time period, or they may simply shut down a series of messages that appear to be similar.  You should check your email host's policy before sending a bulk message through their email server.
